Teen Creative Writing Contest

Thank you to everyone who submitted a short story, poem, or essay to the first annual Teen Creative Writing Contest! Of the dozens of entries we reciveved, 22 finalists were chosen to be published in Henderson Libraries first ever Teen Literary Magazine "Unlocked Voices."

We had so many fabulous entries it was extraordinarily difficult to decide on the winning writers for the Middle School and High School categories. However, thanks to our judge Beverly Davidson from Von Tobel Middle School in Las Vegas a decision was made. Here are our winners:

High School Category: Barbra Basil from Basic High School for her poem "Innocence"

Middle School Category: Amber Carlson from Mannion Middle School for her short story "All I Wanted Was to See a Dragon."

Congratulations Barbara and Amber!

You can read all of our fabulous finalists' work by viewing a PDF of the magazine. Or, if you happen to be a fan of print,  you can pick up your very own copy of "Unlocked Voices" for free at the Youth Services Desk in any Henderson Library location
