HawkGuides
A HawkGuide is a list of resources selected by HDPL library staff that are arranged by theme.
Included in a HawkGuide are websites, online databases, as well as biographies, fiction, and non-fiction books.
We'll be adding more throughout the year!
- Homework Help - Use our online resources especially for kids to find magazine articles, encyclopedia articles, maps, flags, science project ideas, and lots more. You may need a Henderson Library Card to access some resources from your home or school.
- Assignment Alert - Teachers, help us help your students! Tell us what assignments your students will be researching at our libraries. We will work to have the required materials available when and where they are needed.
- Read-Aloud Biographies - Our librarians have assembled lists of books by topic which are good read-aloud choices. Feel free to use these ideas in your classroom.
- Reading with Rover - Reading with Rover pairs trained, certified therapy dogs with children who are uncomfortable reading aloud.
- 3rd Grade Library Card Initiative - “Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card!”
- Education Websites - A collection of lesson plans and teaching resources available free on the web.
- Finding a Good Book - Use HDPL's catalog, databases, and a selection of book review resources to find that next great read for your students!
- Read-the-Books - Find books grouped by age level on selected topics - then have your students write their own review.
